Had a great workshop in Wellington on Friday with my principal mentor group. We have done some great things here and it was good to be able to share these with my colleages. Good processes will stand us in good stead for 2011.

Well nearly the end of the year and our first year as Ruapani babies. We were really saddened by the sudden death of Makere Edwards. We all look forward to the holiday break and spending time with our families, and get our energy revitalised for an exciting year. While Joy leaves us to try her wings elsewhere, Horowai returns from study leave. Lisa has been accepted for bachelor of teaching training at WOA next year and in the words of Cher...."the beat goes on!" We're off camping down at Urukokomuka river for the next couple of days. Looing forward to that.

Don't things slip your mind when you don't use them all the time. Have forgotten already how to put the passwords on, so need to refer to notes again - thank good for that! For some reason once the password is inputted, the file defaults back to home page for Wiki. Grump! Halfway through term and they appear to be going quickly. We have just finished our Hinaki unit that has taken forever to bring to a satisfactory closure. Will put up a photo montage of the unit soon. So sorry to farewell our Sammi as our ICT Facilitator. Will miss her happy smile and expertise. Went to Rose Grant's tangi at Uaua and lovely to meet up with the Toronoa gals. What a lovely service. The tamariki from Tolaga Area School were fabulous, what wonderful role models, their singing was so beautiful, a credit to Nori. Lovely to farewell our mate in such a wonderful setting.

Wow, it's been a long time since I added kōrero, although have been nutting things through. I have had a thought about our children's contributions being confidential and not open to the general public and thought we would have to do a separate portfolio of work that shows the formative assessments. Didn't make sense really, if we could use the Wiki for everything. Only tamariki and their whānau and of course, us, need to have access to this mahi. So, we have decided to put passwords on all the kids files. That's where we are at the moment. By the end of the term we need to have all of our assessments on the wikis and our kids able to log in and out and have a good understanding of their wiki. Koina te tumanako. Copies of school reports, where would we put those - in another folder perhaps but they can't be accessed by everyone either. Any suggestions? Still don't have student voice down pat yet, need to get onto that as well.

Awesome opportunity to take our whole kura into the manu korero at TWOA today to give them experience on the atamira as well as being able to watch other speakers. Best of all to support our own speakers who have not ever experienced anything like this before. Certainly the end of a valuable oral language assessment for all of our tamariki. Fabulous parent support and our kids did very well sitting and listening all day. Look forward to getting our kids to reflect on today's events apopo. going to get them started on the Blog...... well that's the plan stan!

Have located Blogalog from one of Sammie's earlier emails to us. So have begun to set up a blog for Kereru. Check out the website, easy to follow instructions. Good amount of time spent on Wiki at staff meeting to make sure that we have some uniformity across the school. I want us to reduce the paper trail. My goal is to start term four paperless!

Have just spent an awesome day with my mentor group at Turakina Girls College and after a fairly intensive day of PD we had a little tutu on the Mac. I know how to activate the tohu tō. Go to System Preferences, Languages and Text, Input Sources, Search for the Tino Rangatira flag in the Keyboard and Character Viewer and tick in the box. The Rangatira flag will appear in the top bar of your desktop. when you type a vowel hold down the tilde key and voila! āēīōū.

We have just completed three days of manu korero and have managed to obtain some good video and digital footage. The next step for us is to edit and decide what to put onto our wiki. I am absolutely fabulous at recording and taking pictures - it's the next step that is always the challenge! Our staff had a quick run through of e-asttle and we are going to trial panui and tuhituhi this term starting tomorrow. One thing I have noticed that some of the topics in the Te Reo selection are quite basic and it is a challenge to find something to interest the tamariki.

Had a good session with Sammi, our team all keen to get the kids out of the gate so we could have playtime on the laptops. We did sort of have a plan, but it's funny how things manage to kotiti haere to other things. Sammi is good at taking a tiki tour down another pathway while at the same time keeping us generally together .... Have learnt how to import a photo and then we took a quick look at kidpix. I have added something else to the contents panel Rauemi to Share. Joy, Kupu and I went to Taranaki the first holidays to Te Ao Hangarau for a week. Lisa and I went to Whaia Te Ara Angitu hui in Rotorua the second holidays - an awesome hui run by the RTMs, in depth wananga for Literacy. We have some very good resources to share. I will also chuck on anything else that may be of use to anyone. Take what you want. Off to the mokos this weekend so will see what's new with them on the laptops.... and I may be able to share some learning.. usually they are sharing with me.

Kia Ora Ihipera, reading your reflections left me with a smile. An excellent feel good example of animation. I look forward to seeing you all this afternoon.

Well whaddya know! Have had a couple of weeks of trying to untangle my own notes - and have finally achieved success. Sheer persistence has got us all around the table with poor old Joy flicking her eyes left right and centre! What have I learned today? That my colleages are so damn excited about 'getting something right' and they make so much noise I can't think properly! None of us like anyone else to get ahead of the other! Papa Kupu spends most of his time wiggling his cursor!

I know how to upload a video onto youtube, embedding linking and copying html codes. Lisa get your own utube account and get out of my account!

Here's a few reflections about our Lead Teacher and her sharing and caring ways with us:)

Shhhhh! I'm not saying anything!'
Don't take anything off!
You've done what?
You've downloaded it again!
You wanna get out of there!
I wasn't here when you did that?
Was there an embed on there when you did it?
I always knew you were a special case!
Go back to Utube?
Don't push that! Moumou taima tera!
Write it down man!
Was it that one or that one?
I'm trying to be very nice and it's hurting me!
I'm going to get told off soon!
I just need to check something...hmmmm I didn't think you did that properly!
Oh don't be like that
Oh how cruel!
It's a widget not a wedgie!
Where's your book !
Not bad four days! I'm away!
Can I go home now?
I'll speak very s l o w l y !

and ....now I will have to curtail my desire to check videos all over the place!
